Why is Teide the best place to see the stars?
The Teide Observatory, located at 2,390 m altitude, is considered one of the best observatories in the world thanks to the low light pollution, atmospheric stability and high altitude of the National Park. It's no coincidence that astronomers from all over the world come to Tenerife to study the cosmos.
The night tours on Teide include professional telescopes, through which you can see the craters of the Moon, the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, nebulae, star clusters and the Milky Way with the naked eye. An astrophysicist guide explains throughout the session what you're observing and why.
The temperature on Teide at night can drop to 0ºC even in summer. We recommend bringing warm clothing. Some operators provide blankets and warm clothes.

How much does the stargazing tour cost?
It depends which one you choose. Stargazing with telescopes on the esplanade of the cable car base station, 2,536 m up, is €42 per adult and €37 per child aged 8 to 13: it lasts 75 minutes and does not include transport, so you drive up yourself. If you would rather be picked up, Teide by Night with coach, sunset and a dinner stop is €89 per adult and €55 per child up to 11. And the Astronomic Tour, with pick-up and a guide accredited by the Starlight Foundation, is €109 and €72. Message us on WhatsApp with your date and group size and we will book your places.
What time does it start and how long is it?
Departure from the south is at dusk and the tour lasts 3 to 4 hours in total, returning at night. The exact time changes with the season — in summer you leave later because it gets dark later — and we confirm it when you book.
Do you pick me up at the hotel?
Yes, pickup at your hotel or at an agreed point in Tenerife South is included, and so is the return. No car needed and no night driving on the park road.
What does the tour include?
Night transport from the south, the astrophysicist guide, professional telescopes and insurance. Some operators provide blankets or warm clothing, but do not count on it. It does not include food or drinks — have dinner before or bring something — or professional photography.
Do I need warm clothing?
Yes, essential. On Teide, at 2,000 m of altitude, the night temperature can drop to 0-5 ºC even in the summer months. We recommend layers: t-shirt, thick jumper, jacket and, if possible, gloves. Some operators provide blankets.
Can I do the tour with children?
Yes. It is an experience that usually impresses children a lot. Recommended from 5-6 years old (they need to stay calm during the observations). The late schedule can be a drawback for very young children.
What if it is cloudy or the weather is bad?
Teide is usually above the clouds, especially in winter. However, in case of rain or extreme conditions the tour may be cancelled or changed. In that case we offer a new date or a full refund.
When is the best time for stargazing on Teide?
Teide’s sky is spectacular all year round. The winter months (October-March) have longer nights and the sky is usually clearer above the clouds. In summer the nights are shorter but access is easier.
Which language does the guide explain in?
Departures run in Spanish, English or French depending on the day. Tell us which language you want when booking and we confirm the departure that has it on your dates.
Can I do it on the same day as another excursion?
It is a night tour, so it fits after a quiet day at the beach or the pool. What we do not recommend is chaining it with a full-day excursion — Teide by day, La Gomera — because you arrive tired, and tired plus cold means you enjoy half of it. Tell us your free days and we say which one works.
