Why is Teide the best place to see the stars?
The Teide Observatory, located at 2,390 m altitude, is considered one of the best observatories in the world thanks to the low light pollution, atmospheric stability and high altitude of the National Park. It's no coincidence that astronomers from all over the world come to Tenerife to study the cosmos.
The night tours on Teide include professional telescopes, through which you can see the craters of the Moon, the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, nebulae, star clusters and the Milky Way with the naked eye. An astrophysicist guide explains throughout the session what you're observing and why.
The temperature on Teide at night can drop to 0ºC even in summer. We recommend bringing warm clothing. Some operators provide blankets and warm clothes.

Do I need to bring warm clothes?
Yes, it's essential. On Teide, at 2,000 m altitude, the night-time temperature can drop to 0-5ºC even in the summer months. We recommend layers: t-shirt, thick jumper, jacket and, if possible, gloves. Some operators provide blankets.
Can children take part in the excursion?
Yes. It's an experience that usually impresses children a lot. It's recommended from around 5-6 years old (they need to stay calm during the observations). The late schedule can be a drawback for very young children.
What happens if it's cloudy or the weather is bad?
Teide is usually above the clouds, especially in winter. However, in cases of rain or extreme conditions, the tour may be cancelled or modified. In that case, we offer a date change or a full refund.
What is the best time to see the stars on Teide?
The sky over Teide is spectacular all year round. The winter months (October-March) have longer nights and the sky tends to be clearer above the clouds. In summer nights are shorter, but access is easier.
