What this trip actually involves
Teide (3,715 m) is Spain's highest volcano, the highest peak in the Atlantic and the third largest volcano in the world. Its National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited natural site in Spain, and one of the most visited in the world.
The route crosses the park with stops at the viewpoints and pauses at the Roques de García for a guided walk of an hour and a half to two hours. It is 175 metres of ascent on a marked path, with no technical difficulty: comfortable shoes and no previous experience needed.
The Roques de García walk is a circular route of about 3.5 km with no technical difficulty, but it sits at 2,100 m: you feel it in your breathing and the sun is stronger than at the coast. Closed shoes, water, a cap and a warm layer for the stops at the viewpoints.

Frequently asked questions
Which days does it run and how long is it?
It runs on Thursdays and it is a full-day excursion. Pickup at your accommodation is in the morning, and the guided walk around the Roques de García takes between an hour and a half and two hours; the rest of the day is the drive up, the stops at the viewpoints and the return to the south.
Where is the meeting point?
You do not need to travel anywhere: pickup and drop-off are at your accommodation, anywhere in the south of Tenerife. We confirm the exact time by WhatsApp when the booking is closed, because it depends on that Thursday’s pickup round.
How much does it cost and what do children pay?
€59 per person, and €29.50 for children up to 11. The price includes the coach with pickup and return, the guide for the whole day, the drive through the park with stops at the viewpoints and the guided walk. Food and drinks are not included.
What fitness level does the walk need?
It is easy: a loop of about 3.5 km on a marked trail, with 175 metres of elevation gain and no technical sections. Anyone who walks normally can do it, children included. The only thing you notice is the altitude: at 2,100 metres you go a little slower and the sun is stronger than on the coast.
Which languages does the guide speak?
Spanish, English and French. Tell us which one you prefer when booking and we confirm it with the provider for that Thursday.
Do I need warm clothing?
Yes. Even when it is hot on the coast, the temperature in the park can drop to 5-10 ºC even in summer, and it is windy at the viewpoint stops. A jacket or a jumper is enough.
What should I bring and where do we eat?
Water, something to eat, closed shoes, a cap and sunscreen: food is not included and there is little to buy inside the park. Plus a warm layer for the stops. That is all you need.
Does this excursion go up the cable car or to the crater?
No. This excursion stays in the park, at the level of the Roques de García, and does not include the cable car or stop at its base station. The cable car is a separate activity booked on its own, and setting foot on the crater (3,715 m) also requires a free National Park permit requested weeks in advance.
When is the best time to visit Teide?
All year round. In winter there may be snow in the park and the landscape changes completely; in summer it pays to start early, because the sun is strong at midday. Spring, from March to May, is the best season: the park is in bloom and the walking is comfortable.
What if the weather is bad or the park closes?
If the National Park closes access because of snow or strong wind, the date is changed or an equivalent alternative is offered. In all other cases, free cancellation up to 48 hours before; we confirm places with the provider before closing your booking.
