Try dive (no experience needed)
The shore try dive takes place in Rays Bay, a spot with a seabed largely covered by volcanic reef. During the dive you can see around 15 species: fish, rays, turtles, crabs, moray eels, octopuses, cuttlefish, shrimp and more. Rays are seen almost daily (round rays, bull rays and butterfly rays), though this can't be guaranteed on every dive. Before descending there's a detailed briefing and each diver is accompanied by a personal instructor; all equipment is included. There's also the option of a boat try dive, departing from Ola Diving in Puerto Colón or Dive Spot in Las Galletas.
Licensed diving (certified divers)
Tenerife offers a wide variety of dive sites for certified divers: wrecks, caves, volcanic landscapes, deep and shallow dives, from boat and from shore. Dives are planned according to each client's wishes and certification level. Usually two dives a day are done, with a 1-hour break between them. Night dives and DPV scooter dives are also available.
OWD Course (Open Water Diver)
This is the first certification course for beginners; no prior experience needed. Once the course is booked, we send the eLearning so you can do the theory from your phone before arriving. On the first day, exercises are done in confined water. On the second and third days, 4 dives are done in open water. With the OWD licence, you can already dive up to 18 metres deep.

Frequently asked questions
I have never dived, which option do I choose?
The discovery dive, from the shore or by boat. You need no licence or previous experience, and you go with a personal instructor, one to one, in the Bay of the Rays.
How much does each option cost?
Discovery dive from the shore: €75 (20 minutes underwater) or €95 (40 minutes). Discovery dive by boat: €85 (20 min) or €105 (40 min). Certified divers: €80 for two shore dives and €100 by boat. Open Water Diver course: €440. If someone joins you on the boat without diving, it is €30.
Where is the meeting point and at what time?
The shore discovery dive leaves from the dive centre at Paseo Marítimo 17 in Los Cristianos, at 10:00, 12:30 or 15:00; the boat one from Puerto Colón at 13:30. Certified dives and the course start at 09:00. On confirmation we send you the exact location for your option.
Do I need to know how to swim? What is the minimum age?
For the discovery dive it is enough to be comfortable in the water: the instructor is with you the whole time and you do not go deep. Minimum age 8 for the discovery dive and 10 for the Open Water course. If you have any medical condition — respiratory, heart, ears — tell us beforehand: the centre will give you a medical questionnaire.
Shore or boat for the discovery dive?
From the shore is cheaper (€75), you walk in and can get out whenever you like: we recommend it if it is your first time or you are with children. By boat (€85) you dive at a spot you cannot reach on foot and there is usually more marine life, but there is a journey and less room to change your mind.
I am a certified diver, what do I need to book?
Your valid certification and, if you have it, your logbook so the centre can match the level of the dives. Dives are planned according to your level on wrecks, caves and volcanic seabeds; multi-day packages lower the price per dive and we quote them when you message us.
How long is the Open Water course and what does it include?
Two or three days: the theory is done by eLearning before you arrive, and in Tenerife you do the confined-water exercises and four open-water dives. The €440 include the equipment, the instructor and the certification on completion. It starts at 09:00.
What does the price include and what should I bring?
The full equipment, the instructor or guide depending on the option and the safety briefing. Bring swimwear on, a towel and sunscreen. Photos are separate, €25 per person. The transfer to the meeting point is not included unless you book the pickup.
Which language does the instructor speak?
The centre works in Spanish, English, German, French, Polish and Russian. Tell us which one you need when booking and we confirm the instructor available in your slot.
Can I fly on the same day after diving?
No. After a discovery dive or a single dive you must wait at least 12 hours before flying, and 18 after several dives; the instructor will remind you. Book the dive for a day other than the day of your flight home.
What if the sea is rough?
If the centre considers conditions unsafe, the time, date or option is changed — the shore discovery dive copes with conditions the boat cannot. For any other reason, free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
How is the booking confirmed?
Excursions Canaries checks availability, provider conditions and the traveller's level before confirming the experience.
