Turtle kayak and snorkel

The tour lasts 2 hours and departs from the beach in front of the Diving & Kayaking Atlantis centre in Los Cristianos. After a short briefing, you paddle towards the Palm Mar cliffs, where it's common to come across dolphins that live near the fish farms in the area. On arriving at the Palm Mar rocks, there's a 30-minute snorkelling stop to look for Canarian turtles, fish and other marine life. The price includes snorkel gear, life jacket and neoprene socks; a wetsuit is optional.

Snorkelling (lava reef or by boat)

The shore option takes place in front of the Diving & Kayaking Atlantis centre in Los Cristianos: all snorkelling gear is provided, a briefing is given on swimming with fins and mask, and there's a 50-minute excursion to discover the underwater world, with a guide who points out different species of fish, marine animals, starfish and lava formations. There's also the option of snorkelling by boat, departing from Ola Diving in Puerto Colón or Dive Spot in Las Galletas, with 50 effective minutes of snorkelling within a 2-hour trip. There's a €6/person supplement to look for turtles by boat instead of the lava reef.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to swim?

It's not mandatory, though it helps for the snorkelling part. A life jacket and equipment are provided in both options.

Do I have to pay extra to see the turtles?

Not on the kayak. The snorkelling stop is at Palm Mar, which is exactly where the turtles live, and it's included in the 45 €. The 6 € supplement is a different thing: it only applies if you book the boat snorkelling trip and want to go to the turtle area instead of the lava reef.

How long is it and what are the departure times?

The kayak trip is about 2 hours on the water plus an hour of preparation, leaving at 10:00, 12:30 and 14:00. Shore snorkelling lasts 50 minutes (10:00, 12:30 and 15:00) and boat snorkelling another 50 minutes, at 13:30.

What is the exact meeting point?

The kayak leaves from Centro Kayak, in the Guayero building in Los Cristianos. Snorkelling depends on the option: Diving Atlantis in Los Cristianos, Ola Diving in Puerto Colón or Dive Spot in Las Galletas. We send you the exact location when the booking is confirmed.

Can children join? How much do they pay?

From age 6. Children aged 6 to 10 pay half price on the kayak: 22.50 € instead of 45 €. They ride in the double kayak with an adult.

Which languages do the guides speak?

The centre works in Spanish, English, German, French, Polish and Russian. Tell us which one you need when booking and we'll confirm the guide available that day and time.

What's included and what should I bring?

It includes the kayak or the snorkelling gear depending on the option, buoyancy aid, mask, snorkel and booties, the safety briefing and the guide in the water. Bring swimwear, a towel, water-resistant sunscreen and drinking water. Photos are extra: 20 € per kayak and 15 € per person for snorkelling.

Can I cancel or change the date?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before. If the sea doesn't allow it that day, we move the date or switch you to another option — shore snorkelling copes with conditions the kayak doesn't.

How is the booking confirmed?

Excursions Canaries checks availability, provider conditions and the traveller's level before confirming the experience.

Can you help me organise more than just the activity?

Yes. We can help with accommodation, car hire, spots, restaurants, cafés, recovery and complementary activities.
