What you visit
The first stop is Tijoco Alto, a rural corner of Adeje barely half an hour from the coastal hotels. There is a goat and sheep farm there that is also one of the most awarded dairies in the archipelago, and the visit is not a display: you go in while the cheesemakers are working and see the whole process, from milking to the aged cheese.
Then comes the tasting, which is the part that wins everyone over: several ages of goat and sheep cheese, including the smoked ones that barely leave the islands. It is also the best place to buy real cheese, far better than anything in the supermarket.
The second stop is an aloe vera farm in the municipality of Arona, a few kilometres from Los Cristianos. They explain how the plant is grown in the dry southern climate, how it is cut and what it is used for. By 1pm the excursion is over and you have the whole afternoon free.

Frequently asked questions
What time does it start and finish?
Pick-up is around 8am at your accommodation and the excursion finishes before 1pm. You have lunch at the hotel and the whole afternoon free, which is exactly the point of this one.
Can you buy cheese and aloe there?
Yes, both farms sell what they produce and it is the best place to take home real Canarian cheese. Purchases are not included in the price, so bring some cash.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, and it works better than you would expect: the farm animals win the little ones over and there is barely any walking. Children up to 11 pay €58.
