Surf and SUP lessons: group, semi-private or private
Lessons last an hour and a half and are sold singly or in packs of two or three sessions. Group (three or more students): €55 for one session, €110 for two and €165 for three. How to book and when there are waves in El Médano
Message us on WhatsApp with your dates, group size and level; we confirm the time with the centre and the exact price, the one Duotone publishes on its website. El Médano isn't a big-wave spot: it's a sandy-bottomed bay with small waves and wind, good for learning and bad for anyone chasing barrels. That's why the centre sells surf and SUP together and decides on the day which one it'll be, according to tide and sea. If your only goal is surfing real waves, tell us your dates and we'll point you to the north of the island.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a surf lesson in Tenerife?
In El Médano, the hour-and-a-half lesson costs €55 in a group, €70 semi-private and €75 private; three-session packs are €165, €210 and €225. Board, wetsuit and insurance included. It's the centre's public price and the same when booking with us.
Surf or paddleboarding? Which do I choose?
You don't need to choose when booking: the price is the same and the centre decides on the day according to the sea. With waves, surf; with a flat sea, SUP. If you're sure you want one of the two, tell us and we check it against the forecast.
How much is board rental?
Surfboard: from €10 an hour, €25 a day and €90 a week. SUP board: from €15 an hour, €40 a day and €140 a week. Wetsuits are extra (€25 a day). Booking three or more days ahead gets a 10% discount.
Can children take part?
Yes, if they can swim. The centre doesn't publish a fixed minimum age; SUP in the bay usually works well with school-age children, and surfing depends more on size and confidence in the water. Tell us the ages when booking and we check.
What is video coaching?
A 3 h session for those who already surf: the instructor films you from the shore and then the footage is analysed to correct your stance and paddling. It costs €199 with your own board or €249 with the centre's gear.
What time are the lessons?
The centre sets them according to tide and sea conditions, and tells you the evening before or that morning. Bear in mind that in El Médano the wind usually strengthens in the afternoon and the sea gets choppier.
What do I need to bring?
Swimwear, a towel, water-resistant sunscreen and some drinking water. Board, wetsuit and insurance are included in the lesson. With rentals only the board is included; wetsuits are rented separately if you want one.
Where is the centre?
On the beach promenade of El Médano, in south Tenerife, about 10 minutes by car from Tenerife South airport and 20-25 from Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje. Transport isn't included.
How is the booking confirmed?
Excursions Canaries checks availability, provider conditions and the traveller's level before confirming the experience.
Can you help me organise more than just the activity?
Yes. We can help with accommodation, car hire, spots, restaurants, cafés, recovery and complementary activities.
